GoldenEye 007 and Perfect Dark are both the product of British developer Rare, an iconic outfit known for their work on titles as varied as Donkey Kong Country, Banjo-Kazooie, and – most recently – Sea of Thieves. Games like Super Mario 64, GoldenEye 007, and Perfect Dark are sacred among the speedrunning community and continue to be widely appreciated, even decades after their initial glory days. The Nintendo 64 is arguably the most popular console for speedrunners and their art of dissecting games, to the point where epics like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time can be completed in a matter of mere minutes. After nearly 16 years, a new world record was set on Perfect Dark's War! level, thus conquering one of the most legendary speedruns ever.
